Introduction
Digbeth – Shaping the Future!
Is your business involved in retail, food and drink, media, manufacturing or the creative industries? Then you should be involved in helping us to reinvigorate the Digbeth brand, and how we manage and market ourselves so that we truly fulfils our potential.
Digbeth has many great assets, many great businesses and many organisations working to put it on the map. It however faces many of the typical challenges that places face, such as, local, regional and national competition for market share and visitors, access and infrastructure issues, developing people and skills, engagement with residential, creative and business communities and organisational and funding stability.
Digbeth is also undergoing transformation, with large scale public and private investment taking place. This brings with it confidence in the new but also some trepidation about losing the DNA of the place. It is against this backdrop and the desire to evolve and succeed that the concept of a Business Improvement District (BID) is being looked at by a number of businesses, old and new, big and small. The are over 340 BIDs opearting successfully in the UK, including 11 in Birmingham. Examples include:
