Starting difficult conversations with advisors can be stressful and challenging. Sometimes we don’t know what to say. Other times we don’t know how to say it or how our words will be received. This workshop will explore some of the most common challenges faced by graduate students in terms of their relationships with advisors, and will present a framework for effective communication. Topics covered will include: managing expectations, setting boundaries, changing advisors, and communicating needs.
