Crohn's and Colitis Canada is accepting nominations for the following two awards for health professionals. The deadline for submission of nominations for each award is August 15th at 5:00 pm (EST).

1. Outstanding Nurse IBD Award

Launched in 2018, this award recognizes nurses who have demonstrated excellence in IBD care, as evidenced by their unwavering commitment to patients and their families living with Crohn's disease or colitis. This award recognizes the contribution of a nurse nominated by patients and their families for their role as a caring and dedicated health care provider.

The award will be presented at a regional or national GUTS event and the CANIBD Annual Conference, held in Toronto in conjunction with the Meeting of Minds Conference.

Nomination Criteria:

Nominations can be submitted by Crohn's and Colitis Canada patients and their families. Canadian nurses who treat patients with Crohn's disease and colitis may be nominated.

Selection criteria :

The award will be presented to a nurse who has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to patients living with Crohn's disease and their families. The recipient will be selected by a selection committee made up of individuals from the following groups, at the discretion of Crohn's and Colitis Canada, and:
  • Scientific and Medical Advisory Council of Crohn's and Colitis Canada;
  • Members of the Canadian IBD Nursing Community (CANIBD);
  • Volunteers and patients of Crohn's and Colitis Canada;
  • Board members of Crohn's and Colitis Canada;
  • Staff of Crohn's and Colitis Canada.

2. Outstanding Physician Award

This award recognizes a physician who has made outstanding contributions to the clinical care of patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. It highlights the contributions of specialists who have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to their patients, both as physicians and as advocates for patients' rights, often outside normal office hours. The award can also be used to reward physicians who have implemented innovative processes to improve the quality of life for patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis.

This award is presented to a physician recognized by patients and their families, as a caring and dedicated health care provider who has had a significant impact on the provision of clinical care to patients with Crohn's or colitis.

The award will be presented at a regional or national GUTS event. The recipient of the award will be invited to participate in a public conference or research event for Crohn's and Colitis Canada.
