Survey of Alumni Interest in ROMA XL Celebration
Celebration Date: October 30 to November 2, 2019
This year the Rome Program of the University of Waterloo School of Architecture celebrates its 40th anniversary. It was September 1979 when the first group of fourth year architecture students came to Rome and set up the Studio in the cramped quarters on Vicolo Savelli. There was so much energy, optimism and ambition in that first year. The Program has exceeded our expectations for four decades. Over the years the numbers of students have increased, we have a full teaching staff and permanent administrative support and the University of Waterloo has stepped up and supported the Program. We believe this is a milestone worth celebrating. We would like to do it appropriately and involve as many former Rome students as possible.
Many former Rome students have re-visited the city and the Program. We welcome every one. Many have asked us if we would organize an event for alumni. This is the year!
We have settled on the dates of October 30 to November 2, 2019. We are seeking your advice to assist us with planning. Our intention is to offer tours, especially to the most important and memorable sites, but adding dimensions that were not available when students were in the Program. We want to introduce new sites and new institutions, as Rome has created a new set of unique museums and galleries. We also plan an afternoon of presentations by leading scholars and architects providing contemporary perspectives on the city and Italian architecture. Finally, we plan to organize a series of social events in memorable locations.
In order to make the arrangements we would be grateful if you would help us with an indication of your interest and some guidance. Please fill out this questionnaire as soon as possible. We are not asking for a formal commitment, but an indication that you would seriously consider participating.
The survey should take 3-5 minutes of your time to complete.
Thank you in advance for your time and feedback.
