SGNA is soliciting volunteers with relevant subject matter expertise and interest for various volunteer opportunities. The opportunities for which SGNA is soliciting volunteers are below:

Task Forces
 
Onboarding GI Nurses & Technicians Task Force
This task force will create a framework or program to help onboard new GI nurses and technicians. The task force is charged with:
  1. Reviewing current frameworks for onboarding nurses and technicians.
  2. Developing a framework and competencies for onboarding nurses.
  3. Developing a framework and competencies for onboarding technicians.
  4. Determining, creating, and updating the education needed to fulfill the competencies for the framework.
Membership Term: Anticipated August 2022 - August 2023

Time Commitment: 4-5 hours/month including conference calls.

GI Population Health Task Force
The task force will research GI population health issues to identify areas of focus in developing GI population health education.
  1. Collect and review existing population health resources relevant to GI patients.
  2. Research disease specific findings to identify gaps in existing population health resources.
  3. Develop list of GI population health issues and identify priorities for focus.
Membership Term: Anticipated August 2022 – October 2022

Time Commitment: 2-3 hours/month including conference calls.
 
ASC Identification & Outreach Task Force
This task force will create a list of GI ambulatory surgical centers with contacts and will then promote SGNA membership and products to those ASCs. The task force is charged with:
  1. Creating a list of ASCs within the United States.
  2. Identifying a key contact, phone number and email for each ASC.
  3. Creating a script and key resources for outreach.
  4. Reaching out to the ASC’s to introduce SGNA and promote group memberships.
Membership Term: Anticipated September 2022 – April 2023

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/month including video conference calls.

New/Potential Nurse Recruitment Task Force
This task force will build awareness of the GI specialty with the newer nurse population. The emphasis will be on drawing attention to what makes GI an interesting and unique specialty within nursing and prioritizing the larger colleges of nursing. The task force is charged with:
  1. Identifying value proposition for GI to be preferred specialty of new nurses.
  2. Prioritizing a list of educational institutions and other areas to promote the GI specialty nationwide.
  3. Determining avenues of outreach to current nurses to encourage transferring to the GI specialty.
Membership Term: Anticipated August 2022 – December 2022
Time commitment expected for this Task Force is 2-3 hours/month including conference calls.
