Seattle Social Housing Resident Leadership & Accessibility Survey (5-10 minutes to complete)

Privacy statement: Thank you for participating in this Seattle Social Housing Developer (“SSHD”) community input survey. This survey is voluntary and anonymous. No identifying information (name, email, IP address) will be collected. By completing this survey, you are helping SSHD develop an accessible model for resident governance infrastructure.

What is SSHD? The Seattle Social Housing Developer (“SSHD”) is a public development authority focused on acquiring and building forever publicly owned, permanently affordable, and climate-friendly housing that is inclusive of all Seattle residents.

Our model bridges a critical housing gap for those who cannot afford Seattle’s high rents but do not qualify for traditional subsidies. By doing so, we ensure that more community members have access to affordable, quality housing, helping to prevent houselessness and fostering thriving, sustainable communities where people choose to live long term and build strong neighbor relationships.

What is resident governance infrastructure? Resident governance is a system in which community members have a formal role in decision-making, voicing concerns, and shaping policies that affect their daily lives. It is a more “hands-on” community-based form of governance, and community engagement is meant to ensure the needs of renters are met while maintaining financial accountability for public dollars. Eventually, residents will make up about half the Board.
