DELWP Hume Region Climate Change Adaptation Community & Stakeholder Values
ABOUT THIS SURVEY
Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey. Your feedback will help us to better understand what communities across the Hume Region think about climate change and its potential impacts.
The Hume Region has already become warmer and drier, a climate trend that is likely to continue into the future. In the future we can expect: • temperatures to continue to increase year around, • fewer frosts, • more frequent and more intense downpours, • more hot days and warm spells, • less rainfall in autumn, winter and spring, and • harsher fire weather and longer fire season.
These changes to our weather conditions will have a variety of impacts on the way we live, work, play and our general well-being.
With this brief survey, we’re aiming to understand what you value most about living in this region and your thoughts on how much the things you value will be impacted by climate change. We’d also like your feedback about actions in response to climate change – how much is being done and who’s responsible for implementing these actions.
How do we define Climate Change Adaptation?
• Adaptation is defined as changes in natural or human systems to prepare for actual or expected changes in the climate in order to minimise harm, act on opportunities or cope with the consequences. (Definition of Adaptation, Victoria’s Climate Change Adaptation Plan 2017-2020)
