The David Roget Mallee Sustainable Farming Excellence Award

Guidelines and Call for Applications

This Award has been created to remember and celebrate the significant contributions made by the late David Roget.  The Award acknowledges his enduring legacy and contribution to sustainable agriculture.

The Award will be presented to an individual, business or group who has made a significant contribution to dryland farming production systems in the Mallee Sustainable Farming Inc. (MSF) region.  MSF Region of operation across Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia.

The recipient will be highly regarded within their industry and will be able to clearly demonstrate that they are promoting sustainable farming systems for tomorrow as well as today.

The Award will showcase the high calibre of individuals, businesses and groups operating in the Mallee.  The winner will receive the David Roget Award Perpetual Trophy and a cash prize of $1,000.

The Award welcomes applicants that either self-nominate or nominations made by third parties on behalf of applicants.

The Selection Process

The MSF Board will select the recipient of this Award on an annual basis with the Award being presented at the MSF Mallee Research Update (MRU) closest to the recipient. MRU’s cover the latest in Mallee research, development and extension and as such are a fitting event to host this award presentation.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE:  5.00pm, Monday 31st January.

Eligible Criteria

·         Be a business, individual or group involved with sustainable dryland agriculture within the MSF Region.

·         Not be a current or immediate past member of the MSF Board.

Selection Criteria

Applications will be judged on:

·         Contribution to improving the environmental, economic and social sustainability of dryland farming production systems in the MSF region.

·         Demonstration of any impact broader than the initial target of the activity or initiative.

The Application Form

To be in the running for this Award, an application form must be completed and submitted for a nominee before the closing date (31st January 2024).

The application form is simple and allows nominators to clearly address the Award selection criteria.  It is divided into the following sections.

Section 1 - a section for general information about the nominee/s.

Section 2 - this section covers the 7 selection criteria. Nominees don’t need to address all criteria to be nominated
