EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM

SSI Arts & Culture is calling for EOIs from newly arrived and emerging female musicians to attend the 2019 Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA). The event will be staged in Brisbane from October 8-9, 2019.

Applications will close COB Wednesday, 11 September 2019.

Background

For the second year running, SSI has partnered with AWMA to turn the spotlight on culturally diverse female artists and music practitioners through the SSI Diversity in Music Award.

AWMA provides an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the vast number of women working tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring that all communities across Australia’s music industry are seen, celebrated and given the space to thrive. SSI strongly supports AWMA’s mission, which aligns with SSI’s Arts & Culture vision of advancing cultural diversity and supporting newly arrived artists to participate in and contribute to Australia’s creative sector.

SSI will sponsor the SSI Diversity in Music Award which recognises individual artists or female-driven musical collaborations for their contribution to advancing a culturally diverse and inclusive music industry. SSI will also take a delegation of female artists to participate in the 2019 AWMA program. The program includes a series of forums featuring industry leaders and diverse opinion makers from across the sector, a keynote address focusing on diversity, identity, empowerment and conversation and unique networking opportunities.

Join the SSI Arts & Culture delegation to AWMA

As part of the partnership, SSI will support up to 6 female artists and music practitioners to attend AWMA 2019, including return air travel, airport transfers in Brisbane, accommodation and attendance to all AWMA forums, keynote, award ceremony and cocktail party. Any additional travel, living away from home and additional accommodation costs, and all other incidental expenses are the responsibility of individual participants.

When and where?

The Australian Women in Music Awards (AWMA) will be staged in Brisbane from Tuesday 8th October to Wednesday 9th October 2019. Delegates must be available to travel from Tuesday 8th October to Thursday 10th October 2019 inclusive.

Who’s eligible?

This opportunity is open to newly arrived and emerging female artists (musicians, singers or cultural workers in the music sector) over 18 years old from a culturally and linguistically diverse background, residing in the Greater Sydney Area, Armidale, Coffs Harbour and Newcastle. The applicants will be chosen on the basis that they will benefit from attending a music industry event of national significance. Applicants from a refugee or new migrant background are strongly encouraged to apply.

Please let us know if you require bi-lingual assistance to complete the form, and we will request a bi-lingual guide to call and assist you in your language.

By lodging an EOI, you agree to SSI collecting the personal information that you provide, including images and video. This information will be used solely by SSI to contact you about the progress of your application and other SSI Arts & Culture program opportunities that may arise in the future.
