Poulsbo Travel Poll

The TBGO Long-Term Travel Plan has us slated to attend Viking Fest in Poulsbo, Washington next spring.  Dates for the trip would be May 15-17, 2020.  Although that's 7 months away, we have to start planning for it now if we're going to make that trip.

Viking Fest is an annual 3‑day celebration of Poulsbo's (aka "Little Norway") Scandinavian heritage. It is celebrated each year on the 3rd weekend of the month of May. The Saturday parade is about 1.5 miles long with from 80 to 90 units.  There’s a Viking Village, carnival, food, entertainment, eating contests – all the usual.

This is a 3-day, 2 night motor coach trip much like the Spokane Lilac Festival trip (depart Fri morning, return Sun evening). Current plan is to stay at the Oxford Suites right on the water in Silverton, WA (5 miles away).  Hotel includes a lovely breakfast and nice happy hour with appetizers and other cooked items (soup & salad) and drink tickets for (2) drinks each (beer, wine or soft drinks).  There’s a nice walking path down to the seafood restaurant and the park on the water and our location is handy/walkable to many other restaurants.  We plan to include a ferry boat ride (1 hour) on the way up from Seattle/Bremerton on the Washington State Ferry for a nice scenic ride in the Puget Sound, and other local attractions like Port Gamble and Port Townsend are possibilities.

Estimated pricing will run about the same as the Spokane trip, about $460 per person double occupancy (see the TBGO Event Information page for other estimated  rooming prices). The survey will ask about your likelihood of attending Viking Fest at the estimated price.  We’ll also ask for likelihood of attending if we offer $50 or $100 Early Booking Discount to ease the sting.
