Introduction

The Durham Unified Governing Board would like your opinion concerning the possible restructuring of administrative duties in case the need for future budget cuts arises.

Over the past 20 years it has occasionally been suggested that DUSD re-assign principals as a way to reduce costs.

Using a two principal configuration will save the district a substantial amount of money. The tradeoff would be increased workload for the two remaining principals and less access to administrators for parents and students.

Currently, DUSD principals are assigned in the following manner.

Durham Elementary School, Transitional Kindergarten (TK) – 5th Grade (Currently 462 students)

Durham Intermediate School, Grades 6 – 8 (236 students)

Durham High School, Grades 9 – 12 (303 students)
