DEADLINE: December 4, 2015 @5:00pm CST

Thank you in advance for your interest in the CIR Asian International Relations Seminar. CIR is excited to offer our students an intensive week-long seminar on Asian international relations at the University of Chicago’s Center in Delhi over spring break in March 2016. The seminar will be led by CIR Faculty Director Mark Philip Bradley, Senior Lecturer Michael Reese and Lecturer Matthias Staisch. It will include opportunities to meet South Asian scholars and international relations practitioners from the Indian government and regional think tanks, who will provide guest lectures on such issues as security, international political economy, human rights and climate change. To be considered for participation, please complete this application no later than Friday, December 4th.  Additional questions should be directed to Reese (mjreese@uchicago.edu) or Matthias (mstaisch@uchicago.edu).

Question Title

* 3. In no more than 500 words, construct an argument for your participation in the Asian International Relations seminar to be held at the University of Chicago Delhi Center this coming March. How would this unique intellectual opportunity involving South Asian international relations scholars and practitioners contribute to your own professional and research aspirations?

We want to be clear: It is *not* expected that every student we accept into the seminar will have a particular empirical research focus on issues related to India or South Asia. Indeed, such a focus will not in itself weigh all that heavily in your favor, because the seminar will take a very broad view of South Asian engagement in international relations, thus limiting the "value added" for M.A. thesis research involving the region. Rather, we encourage you to think more generally about how the seminar might help you build the post-CIR professional life you envision, whether in the academy or beyond.
