Introduction

The Town of Ballston anticipates receipt of funds from the federal American Rescue Plan. These funds are designated for specific uses, including sewer infrastructure.

The Town is aware that connecting to either the Ballston Lake Sewer or the Carpenter’s Acres Sewer may pose a hardship for some of our residents. Hence, we are looking to possibly assist some of our residents who may qualify for financial assistance for hook up to the sewer. This would not include the debt service charge which will appear on your 2022 County Tax Bill.

We are asking that you participate in a survey to measure your interest and your possible eligibility. Right now we will not ask for any documentation; however, if this program is enacted by the Town Board, proof of ownership of your property will be needed; proof that this is your primary residence; a copy of your most recent Federal Income tax return showing your adjusted gross income; a contract for hooking up to the sewer showing the cost of connection and any ancillary costs (including, if you are in the Ballston Lake Sewer District, the cost of the grinder pump)

The Town is looking to align these applications for assistance with our exemption amounts set forth in our existing Sewer Use Law which is based upon the latest United States Census Bureau’s Poverty Thresholds (we are using three times the Poverty Threshold – the latest numbers are from 2020).
