Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill |
GCVS Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill Survey
The Community Empowerment and Renewal Bill being developed by the Scottish Government is an important piece of legislation that could radically empower local communities to make decisions on the issues affecting them.
Through the Bill, the Scottish Government intends to make it easier for communities to take over unused and underused public sector assets and to introduce measures to help communities deal more effectively with vacant and unused property in their areas, with the aims of increasing locally driven, enterprising community development and sustainable economic growth.
The aim of the bill is to provide opportunities for independent action by communities and to ensure that they have a greater role in determining how local public services are delivered.
GCVS are keen to gather the views of our members to form a Third Sector response for the city and to this end we have produced this survey, based on the full consultation document which we invite you to complete.
Given the size of the Scottish Government consultation, we have also produced an an amended version of the Government's shorter easy-read questionnaire which can be found at the following link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/DRPZWLW
From the responses we receive we will compile a collective response which will be submitted to the Scottish Government, posted on the GCVS website and distributed to members on completion.
The closing date for this survey is 13th August 2012.
In the meantime, should you wish to discuss any of the issues raised in the consultation further, please contact Iona Macaulay at iona.macaulay@gcvs.org.uk or 0141 332 2444
