ISES 2026 Student Volunteers and Reporter Program Application

The ISES Student Volunteers program will recruit 12-15 volunteers to provide support and assistance during the conference including manning the registration desk, speaker ready room, and poster sessions, floating between symposia and scientific sessions for technical support, walking registrants between conference and special events venues, and other tasks. Student volunteers may elect to cover two (2) morning and/or afternoon shifts of volunteer work in exchange for one (1) additional day of conference registration, or cover four (4) shifts of volunteer work in exchange for full (all days) of conference registration. Preference is given to local students, postdocs, and early-stage career scientists. Please keep in mind that this opportunity does not include membership to the Society, or any additional monetary award.

This year, the ISES Reporter Program will also recruit an additional 4–6 volunteers to assist in providing real-time coverage of the 2026 ISES Annual Meeting through theme/session summaries, social media posts, photographs, blogs, and conference highlights. The program aims to increase member engagement, expand the visibility of conference activities, and provide science communication experience for students and early-career professionals. Preference will be given to students and early-career members, applicants representing diverse geographic regions and career stages, and individuals whose expertise aligns with the conference themes and scientific tracks. Participants will be compensated with $200 CAD and free registration for any special events they are covering, including the conference dinner! If you are interested and willing to submit 1-2 social media posts per day, brief daily session summaries and photographs, and contribute to a short conference recap or blog post after the event, please consider applying! Keep in mind that the Reporter Program does not include conference registration or membership to the Society.

Applicants may apply to either or both programs, and application for one will not exclude nor underprioritizes you for the other.
