On August 20, 2022, SHEA will be hosting ‘Feeding from a Full Cup’ to kick off Black Breastfeeding Week 2022. This event highlighting support for healthy families on the Mississippi Gulf Coast will take place at Lynn Meadow Discovery Center from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. It will be followed by an evening award ceremony recognizing local community leaders at 5:00 pm. The morning event will include a community baby shower and brunch for new and expecting mothers followed by a conversation with renowned Author Natasha Tretheway.
Natasha Tretheway will be the featured guest at the event. She’s a Gulfport, MS native and an American poet who was appointed United States Poet Laureate in 2012 and again in 2013. She won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize in Poetry for her 2006 collection Native Guard, and she is a former Poet Laureate of Mississippi.
