Survey for People Living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Their Caregivers
Conducted jointly by Defeat Duchenne Canada, La Force DMD and Muscular Dystrophy Canada

Why DDC, La Force and MDC are working together
Defeat Duchenne Canada, La Force DMD and Muscular Dystrophy Canada are working together to conduct a joint national survey on the impact of Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) on people living with DMD and their families.
The findings will be used to inform patient-group submissions about givinostat, a treatment currently under review by Health Canada, to Canada's Drug Agency (CDA-AMC) and Quebec's Institut national d'excellence en santé et en services sociaux.(INESSS). Responses from across Canada will be analyzed together, with Quebec responses also examined separately to describe the Quebec context.

CDA-AMC reviews new treatments and makes recommendations to provincial and territorial governments (with the exception of Quebec) about whether they should be publicly funded. In Quebec, INESSS conducts a separate review and makes its own recommendation to the Quebec government. This survey is an important opportunity to share your perspectives and ensure your experiences are reflected in the decision-making process.
Before you begin
The survey is open to people living with DMD in Canada and their parents, family members or unpaid caregivers. People living with DMD are encouraged to answer directly when possible. A caregiver may provide support or answer as a proxy, but should indicate whose perspective is represented.
Participation is voluntary. You may skip any question and may stop at any time.
The survey takes approximately 15 - 20 minutes. You may save your responses and return later.
Responses will be summarized and analyzed. De-identified quotations may be used in submissions or related public reports. Names and contact details will not be included.

If you wish to volunteer for a follow-up interview, you will be directed to a separate contact form after submitting this survey. Contact information will not be stored with survey responses.

Survey closes: November 1st 2026
