The Distinguished Lecturer (DL) program honors outstanding individuals noted for high quality in their contributions to geophysics on an international level, and who are outstanding communicators of ideas and concepts. SEG selects two Distinguished Lecturers annually.
SEG cooperates annually with AAPG to support a jointly endorsed lecturer. The purpose of this effort is to bring local geophysical and geological Sections/Societies into a common forum. To be considered for this selection, the lecture should be relevant to both disciplines.
The DL is expected to commit the time to effectively present approximately fifteen presentations at Affiliated and Associated Societies and Student Chapters. Virtual lectures may comprise part or all of a DL tour, depending on circumstances.
