Ballina Shire Council has recently been successful in obtaining grant funding under the Australian Government Urban Rivers and Catchments Program. The Program provides funding for the restoration of urban waterways to leave Australia’s environment in a better state and build resilience in a warming climate.
Council has received funding to re-naturalise the stormwater drainage channel within Tanamera Reserve to a natural creek, restoring habitat for native species and improving local hydrology. The funds will implement the concept restoration plan and flood modelling undertaken last year.
Council has engaged local consultants, Australian Wetlands Consulting (AWC) to prepare the detailed design of the waterway under the grant requirements. AWC have also been engaged to undertake community consultation to assist in preparation of the final design.
Council is inviting you to be involved in this consultation process, through the completion of this survey.
Please note the grant funding is for environmental restoration works only and amenity / recreation improvements are outside the scope of this project.
