  • Uses in organic processing/handling: Allowed as an ingredient or processing aid when organic forms are not commercially available. Used as a clarification or fining agent in teas and wine, as a stabilizer and thickener, and in capsules.
  • Reference on the National List: §205.606 Nonorganically produced agricultural products allowed as ingredients in or on processed products labeled as “organic,” only in accordance with any restrictions specified in this section, and only when the product is not commercially available in organic form. (f) Gelatin (CAS # 9000-70-8).
