It’s been a little over a year since we launched Virginia’s color-coded alert system standardization initiative. Initially we included hospitals and nursing homes, however, as word spread, others have joined the initiative including home health agencies and the Naval Medical Center in Norfolk. To remind you, Virginia followed the national trend and is focusing on three standardized alerts – red = allergy; purple = DNR and yellow = fall risk.
In our initial launch period, many participants stated it would take up to a year to implement standardization. To gauge status of statewide implementation and how best to move forward, we appreciate your assistance with this brief survey.
Your prompt response by May 8 is appreciated. Thanks, and please contact me if you have questions.
We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to our continued work on this patient safety initiative.
