2018 Annual MMA Conference-Conversation Stations Proposal Form
What Do You Want to Talk About?
Is there a museum topic that you are passionate about but feel is absent from the field?
Are you looking for feedback about a new project?
Do you want to share with others a technique or approach that you’re piloting?
If so, you can start the conversation at a Conversation Station.
Conversation Stations are similar to poster sessions at more formal or academic conferences, but with a broader application. You can propose an idea or ask questions about any topic you think the field might be interested in. Conference attendees can visit one or multiple stations to have informal chats with you – the station facilitator - and other attendees. Example topics from past conferences include The Work We All Must Do: Diversity & Your Museum;Storytime—from Program to Community Collaborations; andWhen Entry Level Isn’t.
MMA will select topics/projects for 10 stations that will take place on Tuesday, October 30. The stations will be up for 30 minutes before the keynote and for 30 minutes after the keynote (1 hour total). Each station will be given a table and at least two chairs. We strongly recommend that all stations use visual or tactile materials to help stimulate conversation (e.g. poster, brochures, video, etc.).
A station facilitator may only facilitate one conversation station. Facilitators are expected to register for the conference. Please note that early bird registration will close before conversation stations are finalized.
Proposals are due by July 27, 2018. Notifications will be made by August 10, 2018.
