What matters most?

Help shape the future of Carterton.

Every three years, councils are required to prepare a plan that looks ahead 10 years and helps guide decisions about services, infrastructure, investment and rates.
As we begin work on our 2027–37 Long-Term Plan (LTP), we're starting with a simple question: What matters most?
This could be the most important LTP Carterton ever develops. With local government reform underway, it is likely the last standalone Long-Term Plan created specifically for Carterton.
That's why it's never been more important for us to understand what matters most to our community.
The community outcomes below are based on years of feedback from our community through surveys, submissions, workshops, events and everyday conversations. We've brought all of that feedback together to identify those outcomes that consistently matter to people. Now we want to know what matters most.
We invite you to join our conversation.
1.Rank these community outcomes in the order that Council should prioritise them:
First
Second
Third
Fourth
Connected community: A place where people feel connected, safe, healthy, supported and included.
Prosperous district: A district where businesses, jobs, local spending and economic opportunity can thrive.
Smart growth: Intentional growth that is planned well and supported by the right infrastructure.
Environmental resilience: A resilient district that protects the environment and is prepared for future challenges.
