As part of our Strategic Plan, we’re highlighting the power of storytelling to promote the value of Community Health Workers (CHWs) among Maine people and communities. We will select testimonials to be shared on our MECHWI website that meet the criteria listed below.
We invite you to participate in our Storytelling, designed to collect real stories from CHWs that showcase impact, resilience, and connection.
Why participate?
Stories selected will receive a $25 gift card
Selected stories will be shared to inspire and educate others.
Help us elevate the voices of CHWs and demonstrate the value of their work.
Promote storytelling as a tool for advocacy and awareness.
How will your story be evaluated? MECHWI will select stories based on the following criteria:
Stories that reflect the diversity of the profession
Number of C3 roles that are used
Number and type of resources used
Number and type of individual needs addressed
System-level issues resolved
Impact and outcomes of the CHW’s work
What to avoid when submitting your story?
Avoid any information that may identify a patient, client, or community member. See the 18 categories of information protected under HIPPA.
Avoid names of specific organizations and healthcare providers that you work with
Avoid the town or city where the story occurred
We are looking for authentic, thoughtful reflections—no need to be a professional writer! This is just a summary of your work. If selected, we will work with you to create your full story that will be shared publicly. Stories will not be published without your consent and final approval, and individuals may withdraw consent at any time. We also ask you discuss submitting a story with your supervisor.
