Survey Introduction - Public Health Issues for Flint & Genesee County
Flint/Genesee County Survey of Public Health Issues
As you may know, Michigan State University College of Human Medicine has announced an expansion of their medical school program in Flint and Genesee County, establishment of a Masters of Public Health program in Flint, as well as the development of a research program focused on the public health research needs of the community. The goal of the research focus is to develop intervention strategies to address public health needs.
While public health issues are often seen as national problems, each region of the country has unique issues and differing priorities. To make public health decisions affecting the community as complete a picture of the community's health as possible, MSU is seeking community input over the next few months. As part of that effort they are seeking input from various sectors of the community to ensure the research areas they focus on are the areas of greatest public health need in Flint and surrounding Genesee County.
Your input into this process is critical. Public health issues, ranging from chronic health issues such as diabetes, hypertension and obesity, to alcohol and drug abuse, to child abuse and gang violence, to environmental health issues do have an impact on the quality of life and the economic health of a community and so we are asking for your cooperation in this effort. Your answers will remain confidential. If you have questions or wish to discuss the survey directly with someone from MSU, please contact:
