DFNYC Endorsement for Governor - General Election 2014

Welcome members of Democracy for NYC!

--We have been a local coalition group of Democracy for America since 2004.

--In September, we held endorsements in several 2014 primary races and general election races for state and federal offices.

--In the very closely watched primary for governor and lieutenant governor, due to member input, we announced before the vote that if our endorsed candidate did not win the primary, we would take a re-vote for the general.

--Our members voted to endorse Zephyr Teachout and Tim Wu in the primary. Governor Andrew Cuomo and former Congresswoman Kathy Hochul were the winners of the September 9th primary, so now DFNYC is taking another endorsement vote for the general election for governor.

--In the November general election, candidates for governor and lieutenant governor run as a ticket.

--60% Threshold
A candidate must received 60% in our endorsement voting in order to obtain the endorsement of Democracy for NYC.

--Voting opens Monday, October 6 and closes Thursday, October 9 at midnight. You are eligible to vote if you have been to two (2) events since Nov. 17, 2011.

--Not Sure? Please VOTE!
If you are not sure if you are eligible, just vote, and we will verify your eligibility later. (Your vote will be deleted before the count if you are not eligible.) There is no penalty for voting if it turns out you are not eligible.

--Anonymous Voting:
Democracy for NYC leadership is committed to secret ballots. After asking our members for feedback in the summer of 2012, we developed a system for doing voting online, while preserving anonymity. Votes will be counted by active DFA members in other states. Our practice is to have two people count the votes independently, so that there is an audit of the final numbers.

--Abstain v. No Endorsement
Please select abstain only if you have no opinion on the race. Select No Endorsement if you believe that DFNYC should not make an endorsement in the race. No Endorsement's count toward the vote total, making it harder for any candidate to achieve 60%. Abstain's do not count towards the total.

--If you have any questions or problems voting, please contact us at info-at-dfnyc.org (replace at w/@).
