* 3. There are currently approximately 1,100 active COVID cases in Alberta (with almost 10,000 recoveries). The number of actives cases has increased province-wide compared to earlier this month, but is still significantly less than in late April, when almost 3,000 Albertans were actively infected with the virus. Accordingly, St. Peter's, along with other congregations, is considering returning to in-person services. Even with data suggesting that the number of infected individuals is broadly trending downward, however,  we understand that many are understandably nervous about putting themselves in situations where transmission of the virus is possible.

Additionally, it is important to note that, even when St. Peters re-opens for in-person church services, there is likely to be some significant changes following the recommendations of the chief medical officer. Specifically, masks would likely be required, hymns would not be sung, physical contact would be restricted, there would not be a coffee hour where people could  physically gather together, and parishioners would be required to physically distance from one another.
