From its inception, Q Shelter relied on the passion and dedication of its small membership to build an organisation dedicated to ending homelessness in Queensland.
Deirdre Coghlan was one of these early members and a pioneer of the community sector in Queensland.
As a fierce advocate for our sector and sole life member of Q Shelter, she firmly believed that housing was a human right.
This is why Q Shelter is proud to launch a scholarship in her memory.

This bursary will provide $5,000 toward professional development opportunities for staff members across Queensland's housing and homelessness sector. This bursary may be shared across several nominations.
Criteria for nomination includes:
- Nominee must be a member or part of an organisation that is a member of Q Shelter
- Demonstration of passion and commitment to the housing and homelessness sector
- Proven dedication to their local community
- Limited opportunities for training and professional development
- Likely to make an ongoing contribution to the sector through receipt of this Bursary
Nominations close COB 31 October 2018 and the first recipients will be advised at Q Shelter's Annual General Meeting on 21 November 2018.
