Dear Parents or Guardians ,

Before we get too far ahead in the planning for the fall, we would like to get a quick assessment from our families about your comfort with your  child returning to school in the fall under the safety protocols included in the Initial Guidance from the Commissioner of Education and Governor Charlie Baker for a safe return to “in school” instruction. This information will be used by the School Committee, administration and the Reopening SchoolsTask Forces to formulate a plan for our district by the end of July. We ask that you complete one survey per family only so that we can get an accurate read from community.  Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Please complete and return this survey by Monday, July 20.

Consistent with the medical requirements in the DESE document, the district is planning to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks, face shields, gowns, plexiglass for protective barriers. Staff will have the option regarding which of these items they will need to make themselves feel safe. Mask wearing will be required but other items may be optional.  Students in grades 2-12 will be required to wear a mask and it is recommended in PreK-1. Please respond to the following statements:

Question Title

Social distancing is a recommendation from DESE consistent with medical guidance from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The ideal distancing is 6 ft of separation but it has been determined by health experts based on recent studies that a 3 ft separation is an acceptable distance. Please respond to the following statements.

Question Title

* 6. The district is currently determining if it is physically possible to restructure classroom spaces to ensure that there is three feet between desks and tables and almost six feet between students from nose to nose. If this can be accomplished to meet the safety guidance, how comfortable do you feel about your child returning to school in the fall?

Question Title

* 7. The district will be purchasing signage and developing schedules that allow for a designated flow of traffic in the hallways to ensure social distancing of 3-6 ft. If this can be accomplished to meet the safety guidance, how comfortable do you feel about your child returning to school in the fall?

The guidance calls for frequent hand washing and sanitizing of spaces. The district plans to spray classrooms daily with an antiviral product and wipe and disinfect common surfaces such as door knobs, handrails etc as part of their daily protocol. Bathrooms will be cleaned several times during the day. Hand sanitizing dispensers will be installed in each classroom that does not have a sink and in the hallways. Every classroom will be provided with disinfecting wipes and/or spray products and towels to clean surfaces. Please respond to the following statements:

In order to prepare routes and determine if we need to do additional runs, please respond to the following statement:

The district has been asked to develop a plan that includes three components: (1) return to in school instruction for most students with restrictions; (2) a hybrid model that involves both in school instruction and remote learning; (3) remote learning model for all . Question Title

* 13. If the district adopts a hybrid model of instruction, which option best suits you:

Note: some students from special populations (students on IEPs, ESL students, etc) may have the opportunity to attend full time in this model.
