Expression of Interest

LachLandcare is a community landcare network which operates across the Lachlan catchment. Its goals are:
·      Agricultural practice aligned with land and soil capability
·      Improved biodiversity and habitat connectivity for productivity
·      Increased awareness and capacity in Lachlan valley communities
·      Improved water quality/aquatic habitat in the Lachlan River

Lachlan Smart Farming Network - Expression of Interest
LachLandcare Inc. is aiming to establish a Lachlan Smart Farming Network, funded by the National Landcare Program. The aim is to bring together locally relevant information and expertise on sustainable agricultural practices and facilitate planning, demonstration, adoption, support and monitoring by small groups at the local landscape scale.

We are seeking expressions of interest from farmers and/or groups of farmers from across the Lachlan catchment who may like to participate in a pilot program, which would run over four years.

The program would build on the introductory “Healthy soils, Healthy farms” project run by Lachlandcare earlier this year. Feedback from participants indicated they would like more information about soil management, but in the context of the broader management of their farm along with some support to trial adoption of new practices.

Lachlandcare would like to establish small groups to work together in the different types of systems across the catchment - rangelands, cropping, mixed farming, grazing and small farming areas. Operation of the network will be integrated with LachLandcare members and partners where they exist (e.g. Condobolin, Grenfell, Young, Boorowa). Possibly these groups will be lead by the participants with the support of the LachLandcare coordinators.

If you are interested or would like further information, please respond below, send an email with your contact details to admin@lachlandcare.org.au or contact LachLandcare on 0421 674 840, by COB the 18th December.
