DC Collaborative Student Essay Contest Registration Form
Thank you for your interest in the DC Arts & Humanities Education Collaborative's First Annual Student Essay Contest! Please complete the registration form and attach it to your essay submission electronically or print and attach to a hard copy.
The contest is open to DC Public and Chartered Public School students grades 5-12 enrolled at time of submission. Essays must be between 800 and 1,200 words in length and must address the topic, "What does democracy mean to me as a citizen of DC?"
Essays must be typed or hand-written clearly and include the student's name, grade level, and school in the right hand corner. One entry per student. Any essays that do not comply with these guidelines will be disqualified.
The top ten contestants in each grade grouping will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in April, 2012. The winner from each grade grouping (5th-6th; 7th-9th; 10th-12th) will be awarded $1,000 and have the opportunity to read their essay aloud at a library, as well as win a new book for their schools and Professional Development opportunities for their teachers!
Entries will now be accepted UNTIL MARCH 15th.
EMAIL essays in PDF or .DOC form to info@dccollaborative.org or MAIL to 1835 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20009. Students may also DROP OFF essays at their closest DC Public Library!
