Shaping inclusive climate action: Make your voice count at COP31

Australia will serve as COP31 President of Negotiations for the United Nations climate conference this year providing a unique opportunity to elevate the voices, knowledge, and leadership of First Nations peoples to help shape global climate action.

What is a COP?

Every year, the world comes together at the Conference of the Parties – COP – the world’s largest climate summit. Nearly 200 countries negotiate, commit, and report on climate action.

But COP is more than governments and formal talks. It is also where Indigenous peoples, local communities, and frontline voices can bring their knowledge, stories, and demands to the global stage.

Your input

We are seeking to better understand the priorities, experiences and perspectives of First Nations peoples and communities in the context of climate change, the energy transition and international climate discussions, including COP31.

We invite you to share your perspectives and priorities for stronger and fairer climate action.

Your insights will help inform Australia’s approach to First Nations engagement in the lead‑up to COP31, and how we support more inclusive and just climate outcomes.
