TOWN OF WARE HOSPITAL DISCUSSION COMMITTEE SEEKS YOUR INPUT

Our committee was formed recently after hearing of the decision by Baystate Health to close the Emergency Satellite Center and relocate all other ancillary services, and doctor offices to other Baystate Health facilities.

We have had several meetings and are working to gather as much information as we can to advise the Board of Selectmen as to possible future uses of the current building and land or other use, should the current hospital building be demolished, and the site then becomes a vacant parcel. Prior to its closure, Baystate officials indicated to town officials, they are willing to donate the property to the town.

In an effort to be fully informed we have requested and received financial information from Baystate as to what their projected costs for upgrades to the current facility would cost and we are utilizing this as we gather additional information in many areas to best suit our community and future potential uses of this parcel.

Please take the time to answer the following questions, which we believe will be essential as we pursue one area of concern – health service delivery for the Town of Ware and abutting communities who previously received their services at Mary Lane Hospital.

The committee requests your comments and information by November 19.
