Thank you for applying to volunteer at the Trans and Gender Diverse Bendigo and Beyond clothing swap

Trans and Gender Diverse Bendigo and Beyond (TGD Bendigo & Beyond) are seeking volunteers to assist with various tasks as we host our Trans and Gender Diverse clothing swap events. Trans, gender diverse and allies invited to apply.

These events take place across Victoria at Pride events and as stand alone TGD clothing swap events throughout the year. Completing this EOI is consent for TGD Bendigo and Beyond to add your name and contact details to the volunteer register and contact you to seek your interest and availability in volunteering to work at our events.

TGD Bendigo & Beyond is a peer social support group for the gender diverse community. Isolation has a huge impact on our community and we aim to reduce this by providing safe spaces to connect and socialise with peers and allies.

The TGD Clothing Swap is one of those safe spaces and will also provide the opportunity for community members at all stages of their transition to explore their identity through fashion. We have had hundreds of items of clothing and accessories donated by the community, including shop fittings and hangers.

We require volunteers to assist with duties including setup, greeting guests, clothing coordinators, general assistance and pack up. All items are provided free of charge so there is no money handling requirements by volunteers. Volunteers are expected to assist in creating a safe, inclusive environment to support some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Volunteer involvement will ensure this event will significantly improve the mental health and wellbeing of many trans and gender diverse people in our community.

We appreciate you taking the time to volunteer with us and support the trans and gender diverse community. It will be a great experience for everyone involved…think clothing party with friends, fun and music. Feel free to take part in the swap before or after your shift, we don’t expect volunteers to leave empty handed.

We have multiple roles and time schedules throughout the day: see below for volunteer descriptions. Induction and orientation will be provided for volunteers at the beginning of shift with support available throughout the event.

*Please note, all volunteers need to be double vaccinated and will require working with children’s checks. WWC checks can be obtained for free and we can assist you with this process if needed*
