Survey Introduction
Background:
Occupational Therapy Australia (OTA) is undertaking an engagement project that will contribute to the development of a new autism professional learning course by the
Office for Autism
.
The aim of this survey is to capture occupational therapy workforce capability needs across various practice settings and career stages.
Along with other methods of consultation including targeted round table discussions, this national survey will assist in the development of an autism learning course that reflects contemporary occupational therapy practice.
About the survey:
The survey contains approximately 20 questions and takes around 15 minutes to complete.
Your progress is displayed at the bottom of each page so you can track how much you have completed. Some questions enable you to choose 'prefer not to answer' if you wish.
At the end of the survey there will be an opportunity to share any additional comments.
Language & Terminology:
This survey uses identity-first language
, including the capitalisation of “Autistic” in recognition of the preferences commonly expressed within the broader Autistic community. However,
OTA acknowledges that language preferences are personal and may differ between individuals.
Throughout this survey,
references to autism are inclusive of both formally diagnosed and self-identified Autistic people.
The term “autism-related practice” is used broadly to refer to occupational therapy work involving Autistic people.
This may include assessment, therapeutic services, advocacy, research, education, consultation or other related work.

The data we collect is handled sensitively, securely and all responses to this survey will be deidentified.
