Climate change- most likely leading to long term declines that can negatively impact the broader Great Lakes economy by $18 Billion
Personal property value declines and damage due to unpredictable periods of very high water and very low water. Decreased recreational enjoyment. Decreased access.
Decreasing and impaired wetlands and the impacts to ecosystems that rely on them. Better conditions for certain invasives like Phragmites plants which further degrade wetlands.
Low water levels contributing to better conditions for algal blooms, and potential effects on drinking water for all species.
