Description

Cultural & Linguistic Competency: Applying Enhanced CLAS Standards to reduce behavioral health Disparities

Sustaining capacity depends on the readiness of both the organization and the broader community to commit resources to addressing needs of high risk populations. A key component to planning for sustainability is to apply Enhanced CLAS Standards to reduce behavioral health disparities.  This Community of Practice (CoP) will allow grantee agencies/partners to share strategies that enhance culturally responsive care to ethnic minority populations disproportionately impacted by health disparities.  This CoP will provide support and resources to: 1) summarize program demographics and use of cultural and linguistic competence assessment tools; 2) assess organizational adherence to Enhanced CLAS standards; and 3) provide tools and activities to help staff identify personal bias and its impact.

  • Grantees will summarize their program’s baseline demographic data

  • Review National Standards for Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services in Health  and Health Care

  • Identify methods to help staff explore personal bias

    Session Dates: Thursdays 6/29, 7/20, 8/17 at 2:00- 3:00pm EST.
