Overview

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement's (FDLE) Florida Law Enforcement Analyst Training Program will be hosting a free, two-day training July 20-21, 2026: Investigations Involving Cryptocurrency

This course is designed to provide law enforcement personnel with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to conduct end-to-end cryptocurrency investigations, from initial complaint intake through attribution and seizure strategy, with the goal of identifying suspects and recovering stolen funds for victims.

Training Details:
  • Dates: Monday, July 20 - Tuesday, July 21, 2026
  • Time: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • Location: Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center (TBROC) - 4211 N Lois Ave, Tampa, FL 33614

Instructors:
  • FDLE Cyber Crime, Technology, and Telecommunications Division
  • The Attorney General's Office of Statewide Prosecution

Course Highlights:
  • Foundational overview of cryptocurrency and the blockchain
  • Cryptocurrency fraud typologies (pig butchering, romance, investment, impersonation, tech support)
  • Blockchain fundamentals and transaction analysis
  • Identification of laundering patterns and cross-chain movement
  • Subpoena return analysis and exchange attribution
  • Familiarization of seizure-supported investigative narratives
  • Capstone exercise simulating a real-world investigation
  • This training combines lecture, live demonstrations, and hands-on practical exercises to ensure participants leave with actionable investigative skills.

Materials:
Computers will be provided to attendees to participate in exercises.

Audience:
Investigative and intelligence analysts, law enforcement officers, and corrections officers from Florida.
