Strategies for Giving and Receiving Feedback Within the Supervisory Relationship

This workshop is about the process of giving and receiving feedback, particularly as it relates to navigating the supervisory relationship. We will begin by discussing our relationship to receiving critical feedback from others and the ways that feedback is internalized. We will then explore avenues for making the feedback process bidirectional, exercising agency along the way and developing ways to communicate that with supervisors. Finally, this workshop will examine the connection between students’ sense of self-worth and the feedback processes built in to the project/thesis/dissertation process.
