Volunteer opportunities:

1. Abstracts Review Working Group (6-10 hours during May-August)
Abstracts Review Working Group Roles and Responsibilities
Review and score assigned abstracts using AFHTO’s evaluation criteria, participate in virtual meeting(s) to finalize recommendations for the conference program, recommend abstracts for inclusion as sessions or posters in the conference program, Ensure alignment with the conference goals, provide subject‑matter insight to help shape a strong conference program, maintain confidentiality of all submissions and deliberations.

2. Bright Lights Review Working Group (6-10 hours during June-July)

Independently review and score assigned nominations using established evaluation criteria, attend virtual meeting(s) to discuss nominations and reach consensus on finalists, maintain strict confidentiality of all nomination materials and deliberations, offer recommendations to strengthen the review process for future years.

3. In-Person Volunteering at the AFHTO Conference

Program Host (5 hours) - Welcome attendees, introduce speakers, and ensure sessions run on time. Act as point of contact for presenters.

Registration Desk (2–3 hours during peak registration periods) - Greet attendees, check them in, distribute materials, and answer questions.

On-site Assistance (2–4 hours at the conference) - Support logistics and attendee needs during the event; tasks include guiding guests, helping with accessibility, and troubleshooting minor issues.

Session Moderator (1–2 hours per assigned session) - Introduce speakers, manage time, and moderate Q&A. Ensure sponsor messaging is delivered professionally.
