One Community, One Book (in Three Acts)

The Smithville Public Library and the Richard D. Latham Cultural District will apply for funding for this "One Community, One Book (in Three Acts)" program.

This would be an all-ages program that would encourage the entire town to read one book together during the year (“The Little Prince” would likely be the first book). During the year, Playhouse Smithville will be seeking different community groups to act in the dramatization of the various book chapters (the "three acts") in a public One Community, One Book (in Three Acts) Festival in the spring. Each group will bring their own interpretation to the adaptation of the book chapter, and the chapter plays will be held in different locations around the Smithville area. The Festival will also include artists, food, and other vendors, and people will be invited to come to the shows dressed in costumes.

Please note: If we were to receive grant funding through the NEA ArtWorks program, this program would not begin until July 2017.
