The Community Development Strategy provides a framework to guide community development activity in the City of Albany, and informs the delivery of the City's:
  • Access & Inclusion Plan
  • Health & Wellbeing Plan
  • Youth Friendly Albany Plan
  • Age Friendly Albany Plan
  • Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Compassionate Communities Charter
What is Community Development?
Community development is not an activity, but a process or set of principles used to enable communities to grow and change according to their own needs and priorities. It is inclusive and focuses on groups who are often disempowered due to economic hardship, disability, age or being different due to ethnic background, gender or sexual diversity.

The City works under an 'Asset-Based Community Development' methodology that utilises the strengths, capacities, and resources of individuals and communities to develop strong, inclusive, and sustainable communities. It empowers communities to create positive, meaningful change from the inside out rather than top down.

Why is my feedback important?
Your feedback will help the City review the Strategy, which informs and prioritises the work of the community development team, the programs and initiatives they deliver, and the grant priority areas for the Community Development and Quick Response Funding rounds.
By completing the survey, you will go into the draw to win one of five $100 fuel vouchers.

How long will the survey take?
The survey is estimated to take about 10-12 minutes to complete, so we encourage you to make a cup of tea or coffee to drink while you complete the survey.

If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact the Community Development Team on 6820 3023.
