Racialized Survivors and Anti Violence Workers Interested in BWSS's Project "Race, Gender, and Policing Responses to Gender-Based Violence in BC" |
We are seeking your participation!
As a frontline anti-violence organization, we know that the police are a primary interface for many survivors of gender-based violence. We are gathering survivor-centered accounts of police interactions following an experience of gender-based violence in our project "Colour of Violence II: Race, Gender and Policing Responses to Gender-Based Violence in BC." We will be centering the lived experience and knowledge of Indigenous, Back, newcomer immigrant/refugee, and racialized survivors in this community-based research.
If you are a racialized survivor of gender-based violence who is willing to discuss police interactions you have had when reporting an experience of gender-based violence in British Columbia, please leave us your information below. We will be conducting one-on-one interviews with racialized survivors virtually, in-person, and over the phone in order to improve our collective understandings of police responses to racialized survivors who have reported, or choose not to report, gender-based violence to the police.
If you are eligible and you are able to commit a total of 3 hours (interview and follow up), you will receive $200 compensation.
If you are a frontline worker in B.C who works or has worked with racialized survivors of gender-based violence navigating policing and criminal legal systems, please leave us your contact information below. We will be conducting focus groups with frontline workers and will be asking questions about your experiences when supporting racialized survivors, and trends you notice that potentially influence police conduct when responding to Indigenous, Back, and newcomer immigrant/refugee, and racialized survivors of gender-based violence in BC.
If you are eligible and available to participate in one of our 3-hour focus groups with other frontline workers, you will receive $150 compensation.
