Welcome

Why Are We Doing This Work?
The City of Saskatoon (City) is developing a multi-unit residential green bin program, to divert organics waste from landfill and turn it into compost. There are many reasons for the City to divert organic waste away from the landfill, including:
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions,
  • Reducing environmental pollution,
  • Delaying the expense of building a second landfill.
As part of this work the City is conducting a pilot study for organics diversion at multi-unit residential properties. The pilot study will be used to help shape a future multi-unit organics program for the entire city.

What Are We Asking?
From January to September 2024, the City is engaging property managers, condo board members, and residents that are participating in the Multi-Unit Organics Pilot Project to help shape a future city-wide program. Throughout the pilot and this survey, we are looking for your feedback on:
  • What you think of the pilot program?
  • What future improvements can be made to the program?
  • How can we help make organics collection clean, safe and accessible?
This survey will remain open from January 10 to February 29, 2024. Your feedback, along with best practice research from other cities and internal considerations, will help to inform the City in further developing the options.

Thank you for participating!
