Our Mentorship Program - Join In!
Welcome to the 2016-17 mentorship program for professionals of CoSIDA – a benefit provided only to members of the association. We are currently accepting applications for year two of the CoSIDA Mentorship Program. The first year has taught us many things, and we hope to enhance the program based on feedback from approximately 80 SIDs who participated in 2015-16.
Please come in with an open mind and a willing attitude. Professional development, career growth, enhanced leadership skills and job satisfaction are guaranteed outcomes.
Program Outcomes
Mentees should realize the following outcomes:
• Increased job and career satisfaction
• Preparation for new roles or responsibilities
• Enhanced ability to think long-term about opportunities and connections
• Immediacy with regard to issues; see the mentor as a sounding board
Mentors should realize the following outcomes:
• Professional and personal satisfaction of helping a colleague in the industry
• Enhanced position as a recognized leader and contributor in the profession
• Fresh perspective and new ideas and insights into athletics communications
• Improved leadership, coaching and communication skills
Mentoring Program Guidelines
• Interact for one full year – June 2016 through May 2017
• Schedule and complete a minimum of four calls or in-person meetings
• Establish and agree upon program goals in the first meeting or call
• Mentor should establish action and discussion items as guidelines in advance of calls and meetings
• Mentee career plan, with tangible goals and success markers, submitted to the mentor at the end of the program
