Peer Supporters Working in Clinical Environments - Peer Support Canada Community of Practice

Peer Support Canada’s National Community of Practice (CoP) Programming provides welcoming, facilitated spaces for peer supporters across Canada to connect, reflect, and learn together. Each CoP brings together peer supporters with shared roles, settings, or areas of practice to explore real experiences, questions, and scenarios from their work, while grounding discussion in peer support values and practice standards.

This CoP is intended for peer supporters working or volunteering in hospitals, primary care settings, ACT/FACT teams, and other clinically-based environments. Sessions will take place virtually from 1:00–2:30 p.m. ET on the following dates:

  • Wednesday, October 7, 2026
  • Wednesday, January 6, 2027
  • Wednesday, April 7, 2027
  • Wednesday, July 7, 2027

These sessions are facilitated, discussion-based learning opportunities rather than webinars. Participants will be encouraged to actively contribute through group discussion, breakout conversations, scenario-based learning, and opportunities to bring forward questions or experiences from their own practice.

We ask all participants to review the Community Discussion Guidelines before attending and to ensure that any examples or scenarios shared respect the confidentiality of peers and organizational privacy policies.

Participants can indicate which individual sessions they are interested in and available to attend. There is no expectation that participants attend all four sessions, and each session may include a combination of returning participants and new participants. Space is limited for each session, and invitations will be extended on a rolling basis as we approach each date. We will do our best to invite individuals who we feel would benefit from the space and who are currently working or volunteering directly within peer support roles and environments. If you are not selected for one session, you may still be considered for a future session based on your indicated availability and interest.

Applications to participate in each CoP session will close on the Thursday before the session takes place.
