I am a student at The Chicago School. This study is being conducted as a part of my dissertation requirement for Marriage and Family Therapy Department.

I am asking you to participate in a research study about the effects of parenting style on entering emerging adulthood. You will be asked to complete an online survey. The study in will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. This may cause loss of confidentiality, invasion of privacy, emotional distress or upset, and materials or questions that may be regarded as sensitive or invasive. Although you may not benefit, it will help to understand how parenting style relates to identity formation and cultural differences of emerging adults.

Purpose: The purpose of the proposed study is to investigate parenting style, differentiation of self, and cultural orientation prior to emerging adulthood and the effects of these factors on emerging adulthood

Procedures: During this study, you will be asked to complete an online survey that will total 123 questions. The study will take place online via SurveyMonkey. The demographics questionnaire will collect information about your age, gender, ethnicity, relationship status, and income level. Perceived parenting style questionnaire will ask questions regarding your perception of your parents based on four parenting styles. The differentiation of self, revised inventory will ask questions to assess your emotional responses to the environment.
