Dear Fellow Employee:

On Thursday, April 23rd, Akron General Medical Center will host an employee Take Your Child To Work Day from 10:00 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. The objective of this day is to expose your child to careers in healthcare in a fun and safe environment.

Children of Akron General employees in grades 4 through 12 may participate. It is important that all participants be free of contagious diseases, including exposure to chickenpox. All participants must be dressed appropriately for the day. Jeans and shorts are prohibited.

Registration will be from 10:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Conference Center Auditorium. Tours and hands-on activities will be offered in various clinical and non-clinical departments. Parents may not accompany children on tours, but may join them for lunch from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Conference Center Auditorium. Lunch will be provided for the children, which has been graciously sponsored by Liberty Mutual. Your child will be ready for you to pick up at the end of the day in the Conference Center Auditorium at 3:30 p.m.

You must complete and submit the registration/permission form no later than Friday, April 17th. Please note that you are responsible for making the appropriate school arrangements and obtaining approval from your director.

Also note that some areas of the hospital are either restricted or have limitations. Director approval must be obtained prior to bringing any child to your own department. The following areas are considered restricted areas: Operating Room, Critical Care, New Life Center, Emergency Department, and the Psychiatric Department. Please discuss your work area restrictions with your department director if you plan to bring your child back to your department at any time during the day.

We hope Akron General’s participation in Take Your Child to Work Day will be a worthwhile experience for both our staff and your child. Remember, they may be the future healthcare providers in our workplace!
