Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and Volunteer Louisiana are seeking nominations for outstanding volunteers and national service members for the 2026 Champions of Service Awards. Nominations are open to any individual, group, or business that has demonstrated exceptional commitment and made a meaningful contribution to volunteerism and community service in Louisiana. Nominations will close on Friday, February, 6, 2026.

Champions of Service may be individuals, groups, or businesses that have made outstanding service contributions to their communities. One Champion of Service will be recognized from each of seven geographic regions across Louisiana. In addition, one AmeriCorps member and one volunteer group will be recognized statewide.

Criteria for Recognition:
Champions of Service demonstrate dedication to improving the lives of Louisiana residents through one or more of the following:
  • Excellence in volunteerism, community service, national service, civic engagement, or corporate responsibility
  • Creative or effective use of people, resources, and opportunities to meet community needs
  • Leadership or advocacy that strengthens volunteerism at the local or regional level
  • A measurable or clearly demonstrated impact on the community
  • Regional nominees must be Louisiana residents who live or serve in the region for which they are nominated.

  • Nominations must be submitted using this online form. Narrative responses are limited to 500 words.
  • You do not need to be a professional writer to submit a strong nomination. Clear examples and plain language are encouraged.
