Thank you for your interest in the 2017-2018 STEM Externship Program! Please review the information on this page prior to starting your online application. The application contains 15 questions and can be completed over multiple sessions.
Note - this application is open ONLY to teachers in the Renton and Federal Way School Districts.

Program Participation
Accepted applicants must agree to attend all program sessions. Please review the program dates below. By applying, you agree to commit to attending all sessions. Please contact WABS for any additional information regarding program participation.
Half-Day Orientation

Summer Externship and Professional Development
July 10-14, 2017
July 17-21, 2017
July 24-28, 2017
Follow-Up Sessions
Three full days during the 2017-2018 school year, with specific dates in October, December, and March to be announced.
Externship Placements
Externships vary widely in their placements, and we use your applications and résumé information to make the best placements possible. Below is a sample of recent externship placements:
1. Farmer Frog (Sustainable agriculture and/or school and community gardens) - requires being able to work outside during the day and physical labor
2. The Boeing Company - involves walking up to a mile or more each day
3. Sea-Lect Plastics - requires safety training and includes a rotation between different factor floor projects
4. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center - this externship involves working in a specimen processing lab
